In the early hours of September 1, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Andre D. Faucette II, a Black male from Pittsburgh, was tragically cut short in a barrage of gunfire. The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. in the city's East Hills neighborhood, where police were alerted to the sound of 28 rounds being fired by three separate ShotSpotter notifications in the 8000 block of Bennett Street.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Faucette with two gunshot wounds to his head.
He was rushed by Pittsburgh EMS to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office later confirmed his identity. The violent episode also left another man wounded. He reportedly walked into a nearby hospital around 4:45 a.m. with a gunshot wound and was listed in stable condition. Police believe he was injured during the same shooting on Bennett Street.
Investigators from the city's mobile crime unit processed the scene, recovering multiple shell casings and beginning the work of reviewing available video footage. The Violent Crime Unit is heading the ongoing investigation into the shooting. As of now, there has been no public information released regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the death of Andre D. Faucette II.
