On March 11, 2023, at approximately 12:29 a.m., Ahoskie Police responded to a report of an unresponsive individual lying near the edge of Hayes Street, close to Railroad Street. Upon arrival, officers and Hertford County EMS discovered 44-year-old William Nathaniel Raynor deceased at the scene.
