Dina Michele Shoemake, a 32-year-old woman, was last seen on January 19, 2000, in Latexo, Texas. She had gone to visit her two children at the home of her ex-husband, Curtis Allen Shoemake. Curtis claimed that Dina left his home in a dark green Chevrolet extended cab truck with an unknown individual, leaving her vehicle behind. Dina has not been seen or heard from since.
Her live-in boyfriend reported her missing when she failed to return home.
Investigators became suspicious of Curtis early on, especially after discovering several pieces of Dina’s jewelry, including some she had borrowed, at a pawn shop where Curtis had sold them. Authorities also noted a strong odor of bleach at Curtis’s home shortly after Dina's disappearance. Though no trace of her body was found, Curtis was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in 2018, 18 years after her disappearance.
Dina’s case remains unresolved, but foul play is strongly suspected due to the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and Curtis’s arrest. Dina had previously expressed fear of her ex-husband and had made several 911 calls regarding his behavior before her disappearance. Curtis is currently awaiting trial.
