On a tragic Saturday evening, May 24, 2014, in the bustling tourist town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the life of 28-year-old Jamie Williams was cut short. The incident, a triple homicide, took place at the Bermuda Sands Motel on Ocean Boulevard. Williams, along with two others, Devonte Dantzler, 21, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, 22, both from Summerville, SC, succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds. A fourth individual, Keith A.
Williams, 24, was also wounded in the shooting but survived.
The violence erupted around 11 p.m. following a large fight that had broken out on the street in front of the motel. In the wake of the initial altercation, Williams, Dantzler, and Barnwell had moved to the second floor of the motel. It was there that multiple gunshots were fired, striking the three. Williams and Dantzler were pronounced dead at the scene, while Barnwell was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where she later died. The cause of death for all three victims was determined to be trauma to vital organs from the gunshots.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials began an extensive investigation into the shooting. While two men were arrested at the scene, their charges were unrelated to the homicide. Despite a large number of people being present at the popular tourist destination during the Memorial Day weekend, and a significant amount of information being gathered, authorities have struggled to identify those responsible for the killings.
To date, no arrests have been made directly in connection with the murders of Jamie Williams, Devonte Dantzler, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, and no specific suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an active and open investigation.
