On April 17, 2023, 18-year-old Victoria Faith Jefferson was fatally shot in the 5500 block of Gilcrest Sands Drive in Hope Mills, North Carolina. The incident occurred just before midnight, also resulting in injuries to two other individuals, including Jefferson's best friend, Ashley Johnson. Neighbors described the location as a hotspot for trouble.
