On May 7, 2023, 51-year-old Daniel Barham was found deceased near Highway 772 in Pine Hall, North Carolina. Deputies from the Stokes County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 12:40 p.m., where they were met by Barham's family, who directed them to his location.
During the investigation, detectives identified a juvenile suspect located in Surry County. After interviewing the individual, authorities charged the juvenile with Barham's murder.
Due to the suspect's age, no further information has been released. The juvenile is currently held in a detention center, awaiting a court appearance.
Daniel Barham was born on June 16, 1971, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He honorably served in the United States Army National Guard and was employed as an IT Engineer with Hitachi Vantara. Barham was known for his love of hunting, gem mining, working out, and caring for his dogs. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Alice Barham; his twin brother, David; another brother, Chuck; his sister, Susie; and several nieces.
A funeral service was held on May 13, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Knollhurst Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial contributions toward adoptions at the Stokes County Animal Shelter.
