On May 14, 2023, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, 40-year-old Tavori Detron "Spot" Fletcher was fatally shot in an incident that also injured 35-year-old Cedric Green. The shooting occurred just after midnight in the Hickory Village Mobile Home Park on River Road. Both men sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, where Fletcher succumbed to his injuries. Green was later transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for further treatment.
In the days following the incident, law enforcement identified two suspects. On May 16, 2023, 20-year-old Lorenzo Santiago Cedeno Jr. was arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was charged with murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Cedeno was held without bond at the Chesapeake City Jail pending extradition to North Carolina.
Subsequently, on May 19, 2023, a second suspect, 19-year-old Dy’Yon Darrell Hall, was apprehended. Hall faced charges of murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. At the time of his arrest, he was detained at the Chesapeake City Jail on a separate concealed weapon charge. Authorities indicated that Hall would be served with the North Carolina charges following the resolution of his charges in Virginia.
