In the early hours of June 24, 2023, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 1100 block of Nations Drive, located in the Steele Creek Division of Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival shortly before 4:00 a.m., officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds: 63-year-old Karlos Gregory and an unidentified male victim.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Gregory deceased at the scene, while the male victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The CMPD Homicide Unit promptly initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Crime Scene Search specialists were deployed to process the area and collect physical evidence, with support from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC. Despite these efforts, as of the latest available information, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with Gregory's death.
