On June 27, 2023, at approximately 12:58 a.m., Harnett County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported assault at a residence on Burslem Road in Cameron, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Joshua Tyler Holland deceased from gunshot wounds, and his 15-year-old half-brother, Quinton Jones, critically injured with a gunshot wound to the head.
Tragically, Quinton Jones succumbed to his injuries after being taken off life support on July 25, 2023.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities arrested three individuals in connection with the murders. On December 29, 2023, 21-year-old Caleb Xavier Henderson and 20-year-old Rasool Mubarak Husain Jr. were apprehended and charged with two counts each of first-degree murder, first-degree forcible burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Additionally, 41-year-old Erica Deniece Kennedy was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for her alleged involvement in the homicides.
The arrests brought a measure of relief to the grieving family and the Cameron community, who had been seeking justice for the tragic loss of the two brothers. As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains vigilant, hoping for a resolution that ensures accountability for the senseless acts of violence that claimed the lives of Joshua Holland and Quinton Jones.
Joshua Holland was remembered as a devoted father to his young son, Josiah, and a loving family member. He had a passion for playing video games, creating rap music, and cherished spending time with his family. A memorial service was held on July 22, 2023, at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford, North Carolina, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory.
