On July 19, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., 29-year-old Ricky Renea Davis was fatally shot while attending a vigil in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The vigil was held near the 100 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the same location where 39-year-old Aljerone Sims had been killed in a drive-by shooting earlier that week.
