On the evening of September 3, 2023, in Shelby, North Carolina, 48-year-old Johnny Phillip Morris was fatally shot during a party at 616 Chapel Drive. The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies arrived around 10:15 p.m. to find bystanders performing CPR on Morris, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
