On September 9, 2023, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 900 block of Moretz Avenue, located in the Druid Hills South neighborhood of north Charlotte. Upon arrival, officers discovered 46-year-old Leon Miller Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound near the Faith Liberation Community Christian Church. Tragically, Mr. Miller was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
