On the morning of September 16, 2023, Greensboro police responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of McPherson Street around 7:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Tony Brewer, 34, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Brewer succumbed to his injuries, and the incident was classified as a homicide.
