On the night of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a violent incident unfolded in a commercial district of Greensboro, North Carolina, leaving a local man dead and investigators searching for answers. Officers from the Greensboro Police Department were dispatched to the 1700 block of Battleground Avenue shortly before 10:00 p.m. after receiving emergency calls reporting the discharge of a firearm. The area, located near the intersection where Battleground Avenue merges with Lawndale Drive, is a busy corridor populated by various shops, restaurants, and bars.
Upon arriving at the scene at approximately 9:53 p.m., first responders discovered the victim, identified as 33-year-old Robert Lamont King Jr., inside a vehicle in a parking lot. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts attempted by emergency personnel, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
