On June 23, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Greensboro Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Bywood Road and Phillips Avenue in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Lennis Jerome Beard Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Beard was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; however, he succumbed to his injuries later that day.
