On September 26, 2023, at approximately 12:28 a.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the 2200 block of Ladyslipper Drive in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 49-year-old Henry Lee Downing Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
