On October 6, 2023, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Union County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance call in the Ladera subdivision off Newtown Road in Marvin, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 70-year-old Mousa Nafisi deceased from a possible gunshot wound inside the residence.

The primary suspect, 25-year-old Basil Sami Nafisi, the nephew of the victim and a resident of the home, was immediately taken into custody at the scene. He was subsequently charged with first ...Read More
