On the evening of November 18, 2023, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Greensboro police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2200 block of New Garden Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Leighton Devoughn Lyons suffering from serious gunshot injuries. Despite prompt medical attention, Lyons was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred within the parking lot of the Lakes at Lincoln Apartment Homes, a residential complex in the area.
In response to the tragedy, the apartment management advised residents to exercise increased caution.
As of now, the Greensboro Police Department has not released any information regarding potential suspects or arrests related to Lyons' death. The case remains an active homicide investigation.
