In the late morning of April 9, 2026, the life of 61-year-old Jimmy Neve was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Greensboro, North Carolina. Emergency services, including the Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS, were dispatched to a shooting in the 100 block of East Carteret Street at approximately 10:43 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jimmy Neve with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the officers and fire personnel at the scene, Neve succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the city's fifth homicide of the year quickly pointed homicide detectives toward a suspect. Through the gathering of evidence and interviews with witnesses, authorities identified 24-year-old La'Quan Deandre Nora as the alleged offender. A search for Nora was initiated by members of the Greensboro Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and Violent Crime Reduction Team. Their efforts led them to the 1700 block of Brighton Street, where Nora was located and arrested without incident.
Following his apprehension, La'Quan Deandre Nora was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Jimmy Neve's death. Additional charges against him included one count of felony breaking and entering to cause terror and two counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property. Nora was subsequently taken to the Guilford County Jail, where he was held without bond. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they are not currently seeking any other suspects in this case.
Jimmy Vincent Neve Jr., born on December 4, 1964, in Richmond, Virginia, was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother. A dedicated truck driver for Yellow Roadway Corporation for 35 years, he found joy in electronics, shooting, and cheering for West Virginia Football. His greatest happiness, however, came from spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his two children and four grandchildren.
