On November 18, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Iredell County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a fatal shooting near Nance Farm Road, close to Mooresville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 46-year-old David Shane Nance with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest at what appeared to be a makeshift gun range on private property. Nance was pronounced dead at the scene.
