In the early hours of November 30, 2023, Durham Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Hillandale Road and Rose of Sharon Road in Durham, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Billy Ray Dickerson Jr. inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
