On January 21, 2024, at approximately 12:17 a.m., Hickory Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at the Barklay Falls Apartments on 4th Avenue SE in Hickory, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Howard Lesley Redmon of Granite Falls suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
