In the early hours of February 13, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Durham police responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Barton Street, a residential area near W.G. Pearson Elementary School and Hillside High School. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Saquon Marquez Carlos Dunn, a resident of Raleigh, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
