On March 14, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a reported shooting at the Ivy Hollow Apartments on Tanager Park Drive in north Charlotte. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Nasir Quron Boyd inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Boyd was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 3:00 p.m.
Preliminary investigations by CMPD suggested that the incident was drug-related, though specific details were not disclosed at the time.
Following an extensive investigation, CMPD homicide detectives identified 21-year-old Reginald Lawshawn Harrison as the primary suspect in Boyd's murder. On May 20, 2024, authorities issued a public notice declaring Harrison wanted for murder and cautioning that he should be considered armed and dangerous. The CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) sought assistance from the community in locating Harrison, urging anyone with information to come forward.
After several months of evasion, Harrison surrendered to law enforcement on December 19, 2024, by turning himself in at the Gaston County Jail. Harrison now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
