On April 1, 2024, 28-year-old Deavon Dashon Maultsby, known as "Webbie," was fatally shot on Regan Church Road in Lumberton, North Carolina. Following the incident, Maultsby was transported by private vehicle to UNC Southeastern Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the days immediately after the shooting, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office identified 23-year-old Lumberton resident, Zione Irons, as the primary suspect in Maultsby's death.
Authorities issued a warrant for Irons' arrest on charges of first-degree murder.
On April 3, 2024, Irons surrendered to his probation officer at the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Probation and Parole Office. He was subsequently taken into custody by the Robeson County Sheriff's Office and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Maultsby's death. Irons was held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond, awaiting a court date.
