Michael Powell, a 36-year-old male from Lumberton, North Carolina, was found dead on August 8, 2017. His body was discovered in a wooded area near the end of Leggett Street. The medical examiner confirmed that Powell died from a gunshot wound. Due to the extent of the decomposition of the body, officers were not immediately able to identify the victim.
