James Dinkins Jr. was born on July 22, 1987, to James Randell Dinkins and Paula Ann Hunt.
He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Paul Hunt and Mary Hunt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brittany Woods, and several other family members. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, six sisters, three brothers, and numerous other relatives.
