On June 16, 2024, at approximately 6 a.m., Asheville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at the Artisan at Biltmore Park apartment complex on Long Shoals Road in Arden, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Terry Lee Landrum Sr. deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals.
Eighteen-year-old Knowledge Jamal Davis was charged with first-degree murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied property. Authorities allege that Davis fatally shot Landrum and then fled the scene. Additionally, 33-year-old Aria Shaquana Waters was charged with accessory after the fact. According to arrest warrants, Waters assisted Davis in evading arrest by delaying the reporting of the shooting and attempting to transfer the registration of a vehicle stolen from the victim's mother into her own name.
Further details reveal that Waters and Landrum had a prior romantic relationship and remained in each other's lives despite no longer being together. Landrum's family expressed shock and grief over his death, describing him as kind and close to his family. They also conveyed feelings of betrayal, particularly towards Waters, whom they had cared for along with her children.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. Davis turned himself in to authorities and is being held without bond, while Waters is held on a $150,000 bond. In addition to the accessory charge, Waters faces charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trafficking in methamphetamine by possession.
The Asheville Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Landrum's death. This incident marks the fourth homicide in Asheville in 2024.
