Kedrick Tevon Green, also known as "Cricket," was a 29-year-old African American male who tragically lost his life on November 18, 2021, in Arden, North Carolina. Green was found deceased in his vehicle at Southwood Apartments, off Christ School Road, with a gunshot wound at close range. The Buncombe County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at around 8:30 a.m. and discovered Green's body.
The investigation revealed that Green had been shot in the head, neck, and torso.
The primary suspect in Green's murder was Alfred Louis Logan Jr., a 44-year-old male from Asheville, North Carolina. Logan was identified as the suspect through surveillance video from nearby businesses and cell phone data that indicated Green's phone had been moved from his car to Logan's home address. Logan was in communication with Green minutes before the shooting, according to phone records. Witnesses reported seeing Green's car outside the apartment complex the night before his body was discovered, hearing the car's engine rev, a horn blow, and seeing someone running from the vehicle.
Logan was charged with first-degree murder on December 1, 2021, and was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on December 13, 2021. He later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Buncombe County Superior Court on December 13, 2023, and was sentenced to 30-37 years in prison. Logan's criminal history includes charges for murders in Birmingham, Alabama; York County, South Carolina; and Wake County, North Carolina. These cases are expected to be tried in the coming months.
Green's mother, Terria Shade Lytle, was present in court for Logan's plea and gave a victim's impact statement, expressing the pain and confusion felt by Green's two children, who were left behind. Lytle criticized the justice system for allowing Logan to be out of prison for only three months before he began his murder spree. She also expressed her gratitude for Logan's arrest and conviction, as Asheville has many unsolved murders.
Logan's girlfriend, Lindsey Nicole Calton, and his sister, Crystal Chevon Logan, were charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder for aiding Logan after the alleged murder. Calton was also charged with felony obstruction of justice. The investigation involved searching Green's phone, which was found in his car, and Logan or Calton's phone, which was found in a 2010 Ford Escape seized by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office when Calton drove Logan to the courthouse on December 1, 2021. The house where Calton and Logan lived was searched twice, once on December 1 and again the following day.
