On July 8, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the 8900 block of Cinnabay Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Daniel Gomez with a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
