On July 16, 2024, at approximately midnight, Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting at 8009 Cain Wood Court in Walkertown, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 42-year-old Timothy Allen Killion with a gunshot wound to the face. Deputies administered CPR until Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over lifesaving efforts.
Killion was transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Walkertown resident Tyler Ray Crouse, was arrested at the scene. He was charged with felony murder and booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the relationship between Killion and Crouse remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing, with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office urging anyone with information to come forward.
Killion, a resident of Winston-Salem, was remembered as a devoted father of four who cherished the outdoors, had a passion for cars, and enjoyed drawing. He is survived by his mother, stepfather, children, sister, significant other, and other family members. A memorial service was held on July 25, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church in Winston-Salem to honor his memory.
In the wake of his tragic death, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist with funeral expenses and to support his children. The campaign highlighted the sudden nature of his passing due to the gunshot wound and appealed for community support during this difficult time.
