On July 24, 2024, at approximately 10:25 a.m., the Albemarle Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of North Sixth Street in Albemarle, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Dy’Zavious Izayah Bivens deceased at the scene. Bivens, a recent graduate of Stanly Academy, was mourned by his family and community.
