On August 10, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to a report of an unresponsive male in the 8900 block of Arlington Church Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Carlos Stanley Garcia Ramos lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
CMPD's Homicide Unit immediately initiated an investigation, with Crime Scene Search units processing the area for physical evidence. Representatives from the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted at the scene. Following consultation with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office, the death was officially ruled a homicide. Public records indicate that Garcia Ramos had a prior encounter with law enforcement. On August 2, 2024, he was arrested in Mecklenburg County and charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. He was booked into the county jail and released shortly thereafter.
