On September 4, 2024, 15-year-old Anthony Smith was reported missing by his family in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Missing Persons Unit initiated an extensive search to locate him. Six days later, on September 10, officers discovered human remains in a wooded area along Silverleaf Road, near Old Pineville Road in south Charlotte. The North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the remains as those of Anthony Smith and determined that he had ...
