On the night of September 23, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Halifax County deputies responded to reports of gunfire near the 900 block of Washington Avenue in Weldon, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Lamar Arvelle Lashley lying in the roadway beside a bicycle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene.
