On October 3, 2024, at approximately 12:34 a.m., Asheville Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting on Laurel Loop in West Asheville. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old JaQuan Devaughen Patrick Bowen with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately administered life-saving measures, and Bowen was transported to Mission Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on October 4, 2024.
