On November 9, 2024, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Durham police officers responded to a call in the 800 block of Brye Street, a residential area in east Durham near Holloway Street and Miami Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 36-year-old Jacob Kennedy, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The Durham Police Department promptly initiated a homicide investigation into his death.
