On November 13, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the Ascent at Mallard Creek Apartments, located in the 5400 block of Strive Street in northeast Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Jameisha Wilkes lying in a stairwell, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
