On January 16, 2023, 11-year-old Brexialee "Brexi" A. Torres tragically lost her life in Syracuse, New York. She was fatally shot while returning home after purchasing a gallon of milk for her family. The incident occurred near her residence on Oakwood Avenue, where she was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting.
