In the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, a burst of gunfire shattered the late afternoon calm on Thursday, May 18, 2023, leaving a 59-year-old man named Pernell Webster fatally wounded. The shooting occurred at approximately 4:05 p.m. inside the NYCHA Saratoga Houses development on Saratoga Avenue. Webster, a male resident of the area who lived just a few blocks away, was discovered on the 13th floor of the building with gunshot wounds to his arm and torso.
