In the early hours of June 25, 2023, the life of 28-year-old Deandre Morrison was cut short in a burst of gunfire in Albany, New York. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:45 a.m., police found Morrison near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Philip Street with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was rushed to Albany Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Known to his friends as 'Nose' and to his family as 'Dre,' Morrison was
remembered as a genuine and caring soul with a powerful presence. Born on December 24, 1994, he was a passionate local rapper in the Capital Region music scene. His loyalty and goofy nature left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
In the wake of his death, Deandre's mother, Lynette Medina, has been a vocal advocate for justice for her son, whom she described as a 'beautiful soul'. Frustrated by the lack of progress in the investigation, she has taken public steps to keep his case from going cold, including putting up a billboard on Central Avenue to bring greater awareness to his unsolved murder. The billboard features pictures of Morrison and a phrase he often used: 'We all we got, we all we need.'
Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas from his family for anyone with information to come forward, no arrests have been made in connection with Deandre Morrison's homicide. The Albany Police Department continues to seek assistance from the public, urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact their Detective Division or submit anonymous tips. As of late 2024, the case remains unsolved, leaving his family still searching for answers and the justice he deserves.
