In the early morning hours of July 24, 2023, a dispute outside a Bronx lounge escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 34-year-old Vladimir Perdomo and left three other men wounded. The incident occurred at approximately 2:44 a.m. outside the Kama Restaurant & Lounge on East Burnside Avenue. Perdomo sustained a gunshot wound to the torso and was transported to SBH Health System, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting also resulted in injuries to three other men.
A 23-year-old was shot in the leg, a 37-year-old was hit in the foot, and a 32-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the back. All three were reported to be in stable condition at area hospitals.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the New York Police Department began an investigation that quickly led to the identification and arrest of three suspects. On the same day as the incident, police apprehended 32-year-old Estharlin Rivera. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. Shortly after, 23-year-old Franklin Franco Vicioso was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The third suspect, Luis Amparao Aguero, 37, managed to evade capture for a period of time. Investigators discovered that he had fled to the Dominican Republic. However, his attempt to travel to Puerto Rico led to his arrest in January 2024. Aguero was extradited back to the Bronx to face charges of murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a firearm, assault, and reckless endangerment in connection with the death of Vladimir Perdomo and the injuries to the other victims. The legal proceedings for the three accused men are ongoing, and as of late 2025, there have been no public announcements regarding trial dates or convictions in this case.
