In the late evening of August 20, 2023, a violent dispute in the Bronx tragically cut short the life of 24-year-old Lashawn Andrews. The young mother of two was outside an apartment building in the vicinity of East 178th Street and Park Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. when the fatal encounter occurred. An argument with another woman escalated to a horrifying degree when a gun was drawn.
Lashawn Andrews was shot in the face, a brutal act that left her unconscious and unresponsive at
the scene. First responders rushed her to Saint Barnabas Hospital, but the severity of her injury was too great, and she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Andrews, a resident of the Bronx, lived about a mile from where her life was taken.
The investigation into the shooting led police to 41-year-old Latrisha Lowman. Authorities allege that Lowman was the individual who fired the fatal shot during the dispute with Andrews. Subsequently, Lowman was arrested and faced serious charges, including murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. The incident left a community in mourning and two children without their mother.
