On August 21, 2023, DeAndre Carter, a 20-year-old resident of Brooklyn, was fatally shot in Valley Stream, New York. The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. near a vacant storefront at 85 Ocean Avenue, where an illegal party was taking place. Carter sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m.
