On September 9, 2023, 26-year-old model and singer Imani Sharpless was fatally shot in Brooklyn, New York, following a dispute over a parking spot near a Home Depot in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The altercation began around noon when Sharpless's boyfriend, 35-year-old Cordel McDuffie, engaged in a verbal confrontation with another man over a parking space.
