On September 29, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., 57-year-old Jacqueline Billini and her friend, 42-year-old Levaughn Harvin, were walking Billini's dog, Zeus, near West 165th Street and Edgecombe Avenue in Washington Heights, New York City. As they approached Highbridge Park, a masked assailant approached from behind and fired approximately 12 shots, fatally striking Billini in the back of the head and Harvin in the neck. Zeus, Billini's dog, was also fatally shot.
