On August 20, 2024, Gregory J. Purvis, a 30-year-old officer with the New York City Police Department (NYPD), was found deceased in his apartment at 609 West 186th Street in the Fort George neighborhood of Upper Manhattan. His body was discovered by his partner, who had become concerned after not hearing from him.
