On the evening of February 7, 2024, a tragedy unfolded in the Kensington neighborhood of Buffalo, New York, that ended the life of 60-year-old Mitchell Reese. At approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a shooting on Warwick Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Reese on the porch of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the male
victim's death quickly identified a suspect, 50-year-old Levon Dickson of Buffalo. Authorities determined that the fatal shooting occurred during an attempted burglary of the residence. Dickson, who was attempting to illegally enter the home, was armed with an illegal gun and shot Reese during the commission of the crime.
Following the investigation by the Buffalo Police Department, Levon Dickson was apprehended and faced legal proceedings. He was initially indicted on charges including Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree. On October 23, 2024, Dickson pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree in full satisfaction of the indictment. Subsequently, on November 26, 2024, a judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison, which will be followed by five years of post-release supervision for his role in the death of Mitchell Reese.
