On May 7, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Buffalo Police responded to a shooting at Del Denby Tavern on Hertel Avenue. Upon arrival, they found 46-year-old chef Madjid Elbert with a gunshot wound; he was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
