In the early morning hours of June 2, 2018, the life of 36-year-old Parris Warren Jr., a male resident of Buffalo, NY, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:00 a.m., Warren was fatally shot on Genesee Street near High Street in the city. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
For over two years, the case remained under investigation by the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad. In late 2020, a breakthrough led to the arrest of 23-year-old Sidney Watson.
He was arraigned on charges of murder and weapons possession in connection with Warren's death. The following year, a second suspect, 31-year-old Bryant Ziegler, Jr., was also indicted on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The prosecution alleged that Watson and Ziegler, acting in concert, were responsible for the fatal shooting.
The legal proceedings continued, and in August 2023, both men pleaded guilty to reduced charges. Bryant Ziegler, Jr., then 33, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree. His co-defendant, 26-year-old Sidney Watson, pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree for his role in the incident. Both men faced a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison. Ziegler was scheduled for sentencing in December 2023, while Watson's sentencing was set for September 2023. Both were held without bail pending their sentencing hearings.
